In response to the growing demand for a journaling Bible, Concordia Publishing House has released The Lutheran Study Bible: Journal Edition.

The new edition includes the same content and features of The Lutheran Study Bible, plus thicker paper with gold-gilded edges and a ribbon marker. And its lay-flat design is intended to make it easier for those using the Bible to write or draw in it.

Included on each page are extra-wide, two-inch ruled margins to provide space for handwritten notes, creative illustrations, personal prayers and more.

“It’s really important to encourage people to get into Scripture and record what the Lord is teaching them as they are reading through the Bible,” said Janice Wendorf, a past president (2007-11) of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, who calls the new edition “an all-in-one product” — with theological notes as well as journaling space — “that will be beneficial to many, many Christians.”

The Lutheran Study Bible: Journal Edition (item no. 012133WEB) is on sale through Sept. 30 for $43.99 (plus shipping) — a $16 discount over its regular price of $59.99. From Oct. 1 through Dec. 31 it will be available for $49.99, plus shipping.
