Registration opens for 2019 Symposia in Fort Wayne

Registration is now open for the Jan. 15–18 Symposia Series presented by Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind.

The series includes two events:

The 34th Annual Symposium on Exegetical Theology, Jan. 15–16, “Soaring Like an Eagle: Themes in the Gospel of John,” will cover topics such as the Christology of the Gospel of John, reading John in a synoptic light, and that book’s themes and motifs.

Those who are interested in submitting papers to be presented during sectionals are invited to email a one-paragraph abstract to jacob.benson@ctsfw.edu by Dec. 1.

The 42nd Annual Symposium on the Lutheran Confessions, Jan. 16–18, “The Leipzig Debate: The Meaning of Biblical Authority,” will feature lectures on topics such as the ecclesiological significance of the Leipzig Debate, Law and Gospel in Reformation preaching, and scriptural authority.

The full four-day Symposia Series also includes chapel services, Vespers with special music, a basketball game between current and former seminary students, and a banquet.

Registration for the full series is $175, with discounts available for spouses, retired pastors and single-day participation.

Other registration options are:

  • $100 for the Exegetical Symposium only,
  • $130 for the Confessional Symposium only, and
  • $50 for livestream video access to the full Symposia.

Registrations include lunch, but attendance at the reception and banquet is optional; tickets are available for an additional $40.

The seminary also is sponsoring a Lenten Preaching Workshop on Jan. 14, the day before the Symposia Series opens. The workshop will discuss a sermon series from Exodus based on the book Let My People Go! Registration is $40 and includes lunch.
