The February issue of The Lutheran Witness urges readers to return to the Word of God, especially at home. In the regular reading and study of God’s Word by His people, God strengthens faith and prepares His people to give an answer for the hope they have in Christ Jesus.
The regular study of God’s Word begins in the house of God, in Sunday worship services. From there, God’s people take His Word into their homes and teach it to each other. Fathers and husbands teach their families, as Luther instructs in the Small Catechism.
In this issue, readers will find an overview of the Bible and advice on how to do home devotions in every circumstance and read the Bible with eyes focused on Jesus Christ. Readers will also discover practical advice on how to start singing the Word of God in the home through the rich hymnody of the church. Parents will find help for how to teach God’s Word to their children in daily devotions. There is also a guide for readily available resources to aid in the study of God’s Word.
Return to the Word with The Lutheran Witness. This does not mean all the problems of life will go away; it does mean that the readers of God’s Word will find His comfort and consolation in the midst of all trial and tribulation. Return to the Word and find Jesus Christ and Him crucified for your sins.
