In accordance with Bylaw 3.12.2.6 (a), President-elect Matthew C. Harrison has selected for the office of First Vice-President the following five candidates from the list of 20 highest-ranking and consenting nominees generated through the nominating ballot process. These five names will constitute the ballot for First Vice-President, to be elected at the convention on Sunday, July 30, 2023:

  • Allan R. Buss
  • Christopher S. Esget
  • Jamison J. Hardy
  • Peter K. Lange
  • Richard L. Snow

The candidates and other nominees are thanked for offering their names for this important service to the Synod. Their biographical information and statements have already been published in the Biographical Synopses & Statements of Nominees (BSSN) booklet that accompanied the 2023 Convention Workbook, pages 13–23.

Delegates are also asked to take note of the following changes and corrections to information in the BSSN, which will be printed in Part B of the Sunday, July 30, 2023, Today’s Business (TB 2B):

  • Board for National Mission, Central Region Laypersons (BSSN, p. 48): Stephen Weller’s biographical information is incomplete. His complete biographical information may be found on page 57 of the BSSN.
  • Board of Regents, Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Laypersons (BSSN, p. 64): Michael David Lange’s profession should read “Semiconductor Engineer,” not “Pastor.”
  • Board of Regents, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Laypersons (BSSN, p. 66): Jeffrey J. Reuer has been appointed to the Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Board of Regents, and therefore asked his name to be withdrawn from candidacy. He has been replaced with alternate Bill A. Frerking. His biographical information and personal statement will be printed in TB 2B.
