2026 Convention Proceedings now available

Convention Proceedings 2026 — the official record of the 69th Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) — is now available online in downloadable PDF format.

In line with Synod Bylaw 3.1.10.1, the Proceedings is also being printed and will be mailed by Concordia Publishing House to all LCMS congregations, the 2026 convention’s voting and advisory delegates, and all Synod board and commission members, with “the cost [to] be paid by the Synod.”

The LCMS Office of the Secretary compiled the 2026 Convention Proceedings under the direction of Synod Secretary Rev. Dr. John W. Sias. In addition to a full listing of this convention’s resolutions — “presented in the form in which they were finally acted upon by the convention” — it includes Part 3 of the President’s Report, election slates and results, convention minutes, and convention sermons and essays.

Sias explains in the Preface that “a number of the resolutions have amended the Bylaws of the Synod; these will receive attention by the Commissions on Constitutional Matters and Handbook, culminating in the production of the 2026 Handbook in months to come.” He goes on to provide a brief overview of some of the most significant convention actions, including the establishment of a new mission emphasis, Tell the Next Generation; the reinstatement of the Commission on Worship; the recognition of fellowship with the Evangelical Lutheran Christian Church of Bolivia and preparation for fellowship with others; the affirmation and clarification of the Synod’s routes to ministry; and bylaw changes impacting corporate Synod’s structure and leadership, among other things.

Sias notes: “The Synod will be well served if all our congregations, church workers, and agencies review carefully this consummation of a triennium’s work at refining Synod’s governance, objectives, and approaches” and adds “a word of profound thanks … to the Today’s Business staff and to Concordia Publishing House, without all of whom this work would not be such as it is.”

Additional printed copies of Convention Proceedings 2026 will be available from Concordia Publishing House (cph.org), stock no. 09-2638.
