Feb. 15 is the deadline for congregations to apply for competitive grants to help them develop support services for immigrants and refugees in their communities.
The grants are from the Good Samaritan fund, a joint project of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), Baltimore, and Wheat Ridge Ministries, Itasca, Ill.
“These seed grants are intended to enable congregations to develop vital support services for immigrants and refugees that are needed in their communities beyond the initial stages of resettlement,” said an LIRS news release.
Congregations that receive the grants are expected to cover at least 25 percent of their projects’ costs, either through cash or in-kind support.
