Two Synod commissions appointed by Synod President Gerald Kieschnick — the Commission on Worship and the Commission on Ministerial Growth and Support — have met and elected officers for the next three years.
Kieschnick also appointed three members to the Commission on Theology and Church Relations (CTCR) and six members to the Board for Black Ministry Services.
Dr. Gregory Wismar, Newtown, Conn., is the new chairman of the Commission on Worship. Allen Loesel of St. Charles, Mo., is vice chairman, and Rev. William Otte, Rochester, Minn., is secretary. Other members are Dr. Reed Lessing, St. Louis; Mary Mountford, Houston; Linda Stoterau, Orange, Calif.; and Dr. Kurt Von Kampen, Seward, Neb.
Officers for the Commission on Ministerial Growth and Support are Rev. Herbert Mueller, Waterloo, Ill., chairman; Margaret Hinchey, Englewood, Colo., vice chairman; and Rev. Richard Koehneke, Fort Wayne, Ind., corresponding secretary. Other members are Prof. William Duey, River Forest, Ill.; Deborah Esala, Centerville, Ohio; Rev. Richard Goodwill, Round Rock, Texas; David Kusch, Livonia, Mich.; Kim Marxhausen, Lincoln, Neb.; Phil Morrow, Burke, Va.; Lois Peacock, San Francisco; Dr. David Peter, St. Louis; Rev. Quentin Poulson, Charlotte, N.C.; and Rev. Timothy Puls, Fort Wayne.
The president’s appointees to the Board for Black Ministry Services are Lillian Biddle, Westbury, N.Y.; Marvin Collins, New Orleans; Rev. Marvin Griffin, Milwaukee; Rev. Ulmer Marshall, Mobile, Ala.; Janis McDaniels, Greensboro, N.C.; and Rev. James Wiggins Jr., Bowie, Md.
Appointed by the president to the CTCR are Dr. Loren Kramer, Dana Point, Calif.; Dr. Michael Middendorf, Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; and Dr. Orville Walz, Seward, Neb.
Election of officers for the CTCR is set for the commission’s December meeting. Dr. Samuel Nafzger, its executive director, said the commission was awaiting appointments from the Council of President, which now have been made. The COP reappointed its four appointees to the CTCR: Donald Brosz, Laramie, Wyo.; Peter Hessler, Seven Hills, Ohio; Dr. David Lumpp, St. Paul, Minn.; and Dr. Gerhard Michael Jr., Orlando, Fla.
