The online version of the Christian Cyclopedia, a one-volume compendium of historical and theological data that has been available since 2002, recently was modified to improve its usability.
The updated Cyclopedia at www.lcms.org/cyclopedia will decrease download times for the 26 files and 132,694 links in the application, according to David Berner, director of Information Services for the Synod.
“The technical improvements of the application will significantly speed up navigation and response times for users,” Berner said. “Visitors with dial-up Internet connections will now be able to use this resource without the extremely long download times necessary for the original online version.”
The Internet format of the Cyclopedia was produced by the Synod in cooperation with Concordia Publishing House. The online resource offers information about significant people, places, ideas, and institutions in church and secular history.
