A 36-hour “singing marathon” will take place over the July 3-4 weekend on the campus of the Lutheran University of Brazil (known by its Portuguese acronym ULBRA) in Canoas.
The marathon of uninterrupted singing will be performed by Lutheran singers and choirs in the university chapel in honor of the 100th anniversary of the 220,000-member Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brazil.
The event, which is expected to break the world record in the Guinness Book of Records of 29 hours, 3 minutes, also will be broadcast live on the ULBRA Web site at www.ulbra.br.
The Brazil church body was organized June 24, 1904, as a result of LCMS missionary efforts.
