Registration opens in February for “Biking Across Kansas,” an annual weeklong recreational rally for cyclists. The Children’s Christian Concern Society (CCCS) is asking for volunteers to take part in the rally to raise funds for its ministry. The statewide bike trek is scheduled for June 4-11.
Sixteen cyclists representing CCCS took part in last year’s event, raising about $25,000 for the society through pledges, a fund-raising dinner for “Biking Across Kansas” participants, and matching grants from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The CCCS, an LCMS Recognized Service Organization based at the Kansas District office in Topeka, provides Christian education for more than 10,000 children in 15 countries.
Volunteers can take part in the “Biking Across Kansas” trek for one day, or any number of days, and non-riders may send in pledges to support those who are cycling. The 500-mile bicycle rally begins at the Kansas-Colorado border and ends in Missouri.
