A number of new Advent devotions and resources are available from Lutheran entities this year. Among them are:
- Revolutionary Christmas, a 32-day set of devotions written for those who are “unchurched” or nonbelievers. Developed as an outreach tool by the ministry staff of Jefferson Hills Church, an LCMS congregation in Imperial, Mo., the new devotions are written “to engage the alienated or disconnected reader in finding the true meaning behind the Christmas story,” according to Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM), St. Louis, which is distributing the set of prayers free via its Web site.
Also available from LHM, a ministry of the International Lutheran Laymen’s League, is Radical Advent, a more traditional devotional written by Rev. Donald Neuendorf, senior pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Both resources may be downloaded free from www.lhm.org — with or without customized information such as church name, address, contact information, and worship times. Radical Advent is available in print in both English and Spanish, and both resources also may be heard in English via an audio link on the Web site.
- Christmas Collection on CD ($15, catalog no. 51011), a new CD from the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League that includes 29 printable Advent/Christmas/Epiphany-themed devotions, skits, and Bible studies for groups. The new CD contains a mixture of reflective devotions, joyful programs, and a “treasure hunt” for the “treasures” revealed in God’s Word. The resources are designed for use in any size group.

- 2007 Advent Devotions, a free publication of the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots U.S., which works to promote ministries among Native Americans. Each weekly devotion is written by a member of the organization’s ministry staff or a ministry associate.
“The stories they share grow out of their experiences in ministry, as well as their own journey of faith,” according to Executive Director Dr. Don Johnson.
