The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is offering its mite box in a new size. In addition to the traditional smaller box and the larger display box, a medium-size mite box (measuring 12-by-5-by-7 inches, when assembled) is now available.
LWML members use the boxes to collect “mites,” or donations, that are used to provide grants to mission-related projects worldwide. At its most recent convention last June, the LWML adopted a record mission goal of $1.825 million for the 2009-2011 biennium.
The new, medium-size mite box was conceived after LWML leaders heard about the smaller mite boxes being passed around at LCMS district conventions.
“The mite box would make it through a couple of rows and would already be full,” explained LWML President Janice Wendorf. So, the Synod auxiliary decided to provide a larger box that could be used at gatherings, she said.
All mite boxes — including the new medium size (catalog no. 15805) — may be ordered from the LWML office in St. Louis (call 800-252-5965). The medium mite box is available for $3.50 each, or $9 for three, or $125 for 50. Shipping is extra.
