HOUSTON—In the last election of the 64th Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, delegates voted July 17 to place Kermit W. Almstedt of Weeki Wachee, Fla., as the layperson to represent the East Region on the Board for International Mission.
Most elections to LCMS boards were completed the day before, and one individual, Keith Frndak, was elected to both the Board of Directors and the Board for International Mission. Since individuals cannot serve on two boards, Frndak chose to resign election to the Board for International Mission.
Some 3,000 participants, including some 1,200 clergy and lay voting delegates, met July 10-17 at the George R. Brown Convention Center under the theme “ONE People—Forgiven.”
