CPS launches Pastoral Support Network

pastor-support-INConcordia Plan Services (CPS) has launched its new Pastoral Support Network (PSN).

The confidential 24/7 support system offers phone and online resources for full-time LCMS pastors “to get the support they need when personal and professional challenges infringe on their well-being,” according to a CPS news release. “The PSN offers counseling and support services with a particular sensitivity to the unique challenges pastors and their families may face.”

The service also is available to immediate family members of LCMS pastors.

The network provides:

  • family and parenting support;
  • personal and professional support;
  • educational materials; and
  • interactive online health tools.

It offers direct assistance and local referrals in an array of services, including:

  • crisis intervention;
  • management consultation;
  • face-to-face counseling;
  • child care;
  • adoption;
  • senior care; and
  • legal and financial services.

“The life of a pastor, while full of many joys, is not without challenges,” according to the CPS news release. “Pastors and their families face many of the same issues other families face: parenting, financial, physical and emotional stresses. In addition, a pastor is on call 24/7 and spends his days (and sometimes nights) ministering to the needs of others.”

The news release notes that Concordia Plan Services created the PSN because it “wants to ensure the health and well-being of every pastor.”
