Bringing God’s Word of hope and healing to Ferguson

Rev. Micah Glenn, a newly-ordained pastor called as a national missionary to his hometown of Ferguson, Mo., recently walked into the Ferguson Burger Bar & More to have lunch.
The owners opened their restaurant in Ferguson on Aug. 8, 2014 — the day before the shooting death of Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson.
About two years later, Glenn placed his order and looked out the Burger Bar’s front window. He sat across from the McDonald’s restaurant that was the focal point of violent clashes between law enforcement and protesters in the months following the shooting.
Glenn grew up down the street and knows the area well. His new ministry will include serving as the executive director of the Lutheran Hope Center of Ferguson, which is part of the Urban League Empowerment Center and is supported by the community and The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
Glenn will visit local Lutheran schools and parishes to bring God’s Word of hope and healing to a community that has greatly suffered.
Glenn will be supported by your church, the LCMS, through our Urban, Black and Campus ministry efforts as well as by a network of others throughout the church.
