Delegates of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) South Wisconsin District (SWD) met June 9–10 in Mequon, Wis., for their 57th regular convention. The Rev. Dr. Nathan Meador, Saukville, Wis., was elected on the second ballot to his first term as district president. He previously served as SWD executive assistant to the president for Mission and Mercy. Outgoing district president Rev. Eric Skovgaard served a one-year vacancy after the death of former SWD President Rev. Dr. John C. Wille in June 2024.
Also elected were:
- Rev. Eric C. Skovgaard, Elm Grove, Wis., Central East Region, re-elected to first vice-president;
- Rev. John M. Berg, Sheboygan, Wis., Northeast Region, elected to first term as second vice-president;
- Rev. Jonah P. Burakowski, Delavan, Wis., Southeast Region, elected to a first term as third vice-president after an appointed term as 4th vice-president; and
- Rev. Daniel T. Torkelson, Madison, Wis., West Region, re-elected to fourth vice-president after a previous term as first vice-president before accepting a call out of his region.
All elected officials except Meador were installed during the convention. Meador’s installation as district president took place on June 29 at St. John Lutheran Church, Plymouth, Wis.
With the convention theme, “One Lord, One Baptism, One Faith,” drawn from Ephesians 4:4–6, delegates also adopted resolutions:
- To request action and closer examination of Recognized Service Organization status regarding matters of human sexuality;
- To commend the board of regents and administration of Concordia University Wisconsin and Ann Arbor;
- To encourage and promote the biblical teaching of creation;
- To use the title “chaplain” exclusively for ordained clergy within the LCMS; and
- To request additional resources using the New King James Version of the Bible.
