HOUSTON—Acknowledging the 50th anniversary of the LCMS Foundation in 2008, the 63rd Convention of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod encouraged congregations and organizations to use Foundation services in cultivation and stewardship of direct, planned, and endowed gifts to support family and ministry.
Thanking the convention for its encouragement, Rev. Thomas Ries, president of the Foundation, said it has processed more than $1 billion in direct and planned gifts since its inception in 1958.
George Black, chairman of the Foundation Board of Trustees, announced that the Foundation is providing $50,000 for an endowment to promote stewardship education.
The convention is meeting July 14-19 under the theme “One Message –- Christ! His Love is Here for You!”
