LOUIS, January 27, 2014—Representatives and leaders from the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY) and The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) met at the Mekane Yesus Seminary, the EECMY headquarters, and the Gudina Tumsa Wholistic Training Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Jan. 23 – 26, 2014, to discuss the relationship between the two church bodies.

New Missouri Synod video depicts disaster relief efforts in the Philippines

ST. LOUIS, December 27, 2013—The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) has released a video showing the immediate and ongoing disaster relief ministry of the LCMS and its partner, the Lutheran Church in the Philippines, in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. Viewers will see images – some sure to be disturbing – of the effects of the typhoon and hear from church leaders who were on-site within a week of the typhoon that struck Nov. 8.

Missouri Synod grants $10K to Illinois congregation for tornado relief

ST. LOUIS, November 20, 2013—The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) has granted $10,000 for immediate tornado relief to St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden, Ill. The check will be presented tonight to the congregation at a communitywide prayer vigil at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton, Ill.

Missouri Synod distributes $271,483 for Colorado flood relief

ST. LOUIS, Nov. 4, 2013—Following the severe flooding that inundated parts of Colorado in September, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) is issuing two grants for area disaster-recovery efforts. Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Estes Park, Colo., will receive a grant of $171,483, and the LCMS Rocky Mountain District will receive $100,000.
