Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is offering a free kit of educational resources to be used with the DVD and VHS versions of the motion picture “Luther.”
The 300-page kit — available free only to Lutheran congregations, schools, and educational ministries — may be ordered by their staff members by calling (800) 836-7862 and asking for reference number 003520101.
The kit includes:
- a leaders guide with background information and reference material on Martin Luther;
- five stand-alone 50-minute education activities;
- a “Getting Saved Game” game board and playing cards;
- full-color handouts; and
- links to key movie scenes.
A news release announcing the resource says it includes “everything needed for a great learning experience and enjoyable time for any group — from middle-school age to adult.”
Authors of the kit are Dr. Mark Edwards Jr., associate dean of academic affairs at Harvard Divinity School, Cambridge, Mass., and president emeritus of St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn.; and his daughter, Teon, a secondary-school curriculum developer in Cambridge.
“Luther” — starring Joseph Fiennes as Martin Luther — received financial backing and production assistance from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
