Concordia University, Seward, Neb., seeks a provost to provide visionary leadership for all aspects of academic and student life functions of the university including recruitment, retention, and marketing of the undergraduate and graduate colleges. The provost serves as senior advisor to the president, chief academic officer and as acting or interim president in the absence of the president. The provost reports directly to the president and will provide leadership in faculty and staff development, university-wide policy formulation, graduate and undergraduate program planning and academic assessment.
The provost is a member of the faculty; serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet and chair of the cabinet in the president’s absence; participates in a collegial leadership with the chief financial officer and vice president for Institutional Advancement to provide senior management and leadership for the university and executive and strategic counsel for the president. The provost provides direct leadership to the faculty and to the following academic and administrative leaders: dean, College of Arts and Sciences; dean, College of Education; dean, College of Graduate Studies; vice president of Enrollment Management and Marketing; vice president of Student Servant Leadership Development/Dean of Students; registrar, and director of Library Services.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate, an outstanding record of teaching, research and scholarship, and at least five years of successful leadership in higher education, senior administrative experience preferable at the level of dean or higher and demonstrated experience with fiscal management, marketing, student recruitment and retention, and resource allocation. Further, the candidate must have a strong commitment to Lutheran Christian higher education and the specific mission of Concordia University, Nebraska, to prepare students to serve and lead in the church and world. The provost must be a member in good standing of a congregation of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
