The Association of Lutheran Older Adults is sponsoring three Lutherhostels designed to provide “education, inspiration and relaxation” to adults age 50 and older.
The events are set for:
- March 6-9 at the Canterbury Retreat Center in Oviedo, Fla. (near Orlando), under the theme “Listen, God is Calling.”
Presenters include Rev. Wendy Berthelsen, pastor at Hope Lutheran Church, Cedar Hill, Texas, and co-founder and president of Call, Inc., a nonprofit Christian teaching ministry that helps individuals discover God’s call for them; Steve Harr, an attorney and co-founder of Call, Inc.; and Jan Struck, a Lutheran humorist and frequent LCMS speaker who is based in Appleton, Wis.
- March 7-11 at the Redemptorist Renewal Center in Tucson, Ariz., under the theme “Celebrate and Serve.”
Speakers include Dr. Loren Bliese, a volunteer missionary to Ethiopia; Rev. David J. Susan, a former professor and choir director in Seoul, Korea; and Colleen Kelly Beaman, niece of entertainer Gene Kelly.
- April 25-29 at the Signal Knob Retreat Center in Strasburg, Va., under the theme “Lutheran Migration: The Revolutionary Era.”

Activities include visits to Lutheran churches in Madison, Woodstock, Timberville and New Market, Va., and tours of Graves Mountain Lodge, Syria, Va., and Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp and Retreat Center, Fort Valley, Va.
