You do not mention that this orientation was for other than new missionaries. Is that correct or could any pastor/wife attend if interested in the mission field. Did any have calls but had not yet accepted?

Thank you for your blog post. This two-week orientation is for missionaries who have been recruited and called or appointed to serve by the Board for International Mission and is a latter step in the process. It is intended for serious candidates who have been vetted and approved for service as a missionary.

For those seeking more information about becoming a missionary and all that goes with such a vocation, the place to start is by talking with one of our recruiters: Rev. Daniel McMiller (career missionaries) at Daniel.McMiller@lcms.org or Rev. David Fiala (shorter term one-two years GEO missionaries) at David.Fiala@lcms.org.

Also, the following online articles and publications provide a good starting place for those considering missionary service.
