For pastors looking for propers for midweek Advent services, LCMS Worship suggests the following. It is an Advent series drawn from the table on Page 159 of The Lutheran Hymnal. If used in its entirety, the congregation will hear four significant Old Testament prophesies of our Lord’s advent from four different prophetic writings and the entirety of the first chapter of the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke, thus preparing us to hear the Christmas Gospel from Luke 2.
