This was a very well crafted film, and I see nothing wrong with it. Just because Jesus’s childhood was not recorded in scripture it doesn’t make the movie unscriptural. As for the first miracle, perhaps the water into wine was the first miracle that the writers witnessed and not necessarily Jesus’s first miracle ever. As for him being disobedient to his parents, wouldn’t that have applied to his being in the temple when he was 12, when they didn’t know where he was? His question to them at that time seems rather insolent as well. Jesus was God but also human. I’m sure he experienced frustration as we do. And to suggest people turn to the Bible for an accurate account of Jesus’s life as a boy is rather pointless since so little of it has been recorded.

Thank you, Pastor Giese, for this review. I think it’s very important to have a pastor review movies such as this one because of the liberties the movie industry is known to take with not only Scripture, but also other books, both fiction and nonfiction. There is a reason the Bible gives us only snippets of our Lord’s life as a young boy, and while we might wonder what is in the gaps, does it really matter? Scripture tells us what we followers need to know, and any attempt to fill the gaps by book or movie is supposition and nothing more, and we need to take those efforts in that context. “Do not add to His words,
Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” (Proverbs 30:6, NKJV) … Thanks be to God for His Word.

When the Bible is silent, God either feels it’s not relevent or we don’t need to concern ourselves with it, so we should leave it at that – SILENT. This film is not worth our money.

  4. This review is a very NARROW perspective…. I found this movie to be thought provoking* and worthy of my time, seeing that this is a subject matter about someone i love and hold deep within my heart. I will buy this on DVD when available.

    *MATTHEW 16:
17)And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not “REVEALED” it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
    18) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and “UPON THIS ROCK” I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
