The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Texas District met for its 63rd regular convention June 5–7 in Houston. Delegates elected, on the first ballot, the Rev. Dr. Jon Braunersreuther of Houston to his first term as district president. Braunersreuther previously served for 15 years as the Texas District mission strategist for Area D and as director of Districtwide Strategy. The Texas District’s former president, the Rev. Michael Newman, retired after serving 2018–2025.
Also elected were:
- Dr. John F. Davis, Katy, Texas, Area D, re-elected as first vice-president;
- Larry Krueger, Salado, Texas, Area B, re-elected as second vice-president;
- Nathan Wendorf, Harlingen, Texas, Area C, re-elected as third vice-president; and
- Eric Hiner, Lubbock, Texas, Area A, elected to his first term as fourth vice-president.
Braunersreuther, Davis, Krueger and Wendorf were installed during the convention. Hiner will be installed at a later date.
Delegates adopted resolutions to:
- Raise up evangelists and church workers;
- Plant new congregations;
- Affirm Lutheran identity; and
- Establish guidelines for sabbatical usage.
