Delegates elected, on the first ballot, the Rev. John E. Hill of Casper, Wyo., to his fourth term as president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Wyoming District during the district’s 21st regular convention, held May 1–3 in Casper.
Also elected were:
- Paul Cain, Sheridan, Wyo., re-elected as first vice-president;
- Jonathan Lange, Evanston, Wyo., re-elected as second vice-president; and
- Jeffery Grams, Scottsbluff, Neb., elected to his first term as third vice-president.
All elected officers were installed during the convention.
The convention theme of “Spiritual Warfare” was the focus of presentations and devotions. Delegates adopted resolutions to:
- Thank the LCMS Commission on Theology and Church Relations for clearly confessing the biblical doctrine of the immortality of the soul in response to a 2021 Wyoming District convention resolution, and request the response be shared with appropriate publishing organizations of the LCMS;
- Encourage congregations to prioritize financial care for pastors and their families, even in times of financial struggle, and for sister congregations to strive to bear one another’s burdens; and
- Encourage congregations and pastors to continue providing the comfort of Word and Sacrament ministry and in-person worship services during times of crisis, even if it brings persecution.
The Rev. Anthony Oliphant is pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Elmhurst, Ill.
