“Let Your Light Shine” is the theme of the 90th International Convention of the International Lutheran Laymen’s League. The convention will be held July 26-29 in Duluth, Minn.
This year’s convention will offer motivational speakers, a rally for “The Lutheran Hour,” exhibits, worship, business sesisons, and educational workshops in three tracks: leadership, global outreach, and community outreach.
Workshops will address a variety of topics, including “Communicating Electronically,” “Forming a Church ‘Ministry Action Team,’” “Fundraising Best Practices,” “Providing Hope in the Wake of Disaster,” “Life in the Mission Field,” “Global Mission Partnerships,” “Effective Outreach,” “Congregational Outreach Training,” and “Introduction to Outreach Evangelism.” (For a complete list of workshops, check the convention Web site.)
A special convention luncheon will feature LCMS astronaut Jeff Williams and his wife, Anna-Marie, who will talk about their experiences. Williams, who spent six months on the International Space Station, is a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Houston.
Registration is $75 for adults and $50 for children; meals and lodging are extra.
