The LCMS is actively partnering with districts, congregations and Recognized Service Organizations to place missionaries like the Rev. Adam DeGroot in Philadelphia.
The Aug. 11-17 pilot event is a prelude to more extended Lutheran Youth Corps service experiences planned for the future.
Years ago, four LCMS congregations established Philadelphia Lutheran Ministries (PLM) as a unified effort to fund and oversee domestic mission work in the greater Philadelphia area. Today, PLM reaches out to the city’s homeless and immigrant populations by providing relief from physical suffering, transitional housing and business mentoring, and Lutheran teaching about the saving love of Jesus Christ.
