In this look back at 2021, LCMS managing photojournalist Erik M. Lunsford shares “a few of the countless moments of God’s love in Christ Jesus and His creation that, for me as a photographer, stand out for 2021’s year in pictures.”

Among the photos below, Evelyn Poyer reads a book about Jesus Christ to her brother Solomon in Illinois. Karie Kuhl walks with Elaine Andree during the March on the Arch in St. Louis. The Rev. Dr. John Bombaro visits congregation member Jane Indahl in Spokane, Wash. The newly consecrated bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Mission Diocese of Finland, the Rev. Dr. Juhana Pohjola, prays and gives thanks with fellow pastors following his consecration in Finland. The Evangelischen Schlosskirche (Castle Church) in Wittenberg, Germany, is silhouetted against a dazzling sunset.
