Delegates of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Florida-Georgia District met June 5–7 in Orlando, Fla., for the district’s 35th regular convention. The convention theme, “Compelled,” was drawn from 2 Corinthians 5:14–15.
Delegates elected the Rev. James Rockey by acclamation to his second term as district president.
Also elected were:
- Jay Winters, Tallahassee, Fla., Region 2, first vice-president;
- Dr. David Brockhoff, Masaryktown, Fla., Region 4, second vice-president;
- Charles Reich, Winter Haven, Fla., Region 3, third vice-president;
- Scott Henze, Weston, Fla., Region 5, fourth vice-president; and
- Jeffrey Jordan, Sandy Springs, Ga., Region 1, fifth vice-president.
All elected officers were installed during the convention.
Delegates adopted resolutions to:
- Encourage church multiplication and expand Lutheran schools in the Florida-Georgia District as means of making new disciples and practicing outreach;
- Reduce restrictions on Specific Ministry Pastors;
- Provide guidelines for ecclesiastical supervision in an internet age; and
- Support and clarify the prior approval process.
