“Chevanurch,” a shortening of “China Evangelical Lutheran Church,” comprises about 70 people from 19 families who formerly served as missionaries to Taiwan.
At its Jan. 31–Feb. 1 meeting in St. Louis, the board appointed seven new missionaries and continued discussions on the status of international schools and cooperative work with partner churches, districts and mission societies.
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod has announced 10 missionaries accepting calls to serve in seven countries around the globe. The Synod’s newest missionaries serve in Germany, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, Peru, Spain and Uganda.
