In partnership with the LCMS, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brazil recently called eight pastors to serve as alliance missionaries in the Africa and the Latin America and Caribbean regions.
The recent missionary orientation at the LCMS International Center in St. Louis included an opportunity for the new missionaries to meet with missionaries who recently ended their service.
The LCMS Boards for International Mission and National Mission held their first gatherings of 2021 via all-day virtual meetings on Jan. 28 and Feb. 26, respectively.
The committee appointed by the Synod’s Board of Directors in response to 2019 Convention Res. 7–03 to conceive of a new governance model for the Concordia University System reported on its progress at the Board’s Feb. 19 meeting.
At its Sept. 4 meeting, the board also heard about how reductions in budgeted Fiscal Year 2021 expenditures will have a significant impact on LCMS mission and ministry efforts.
The LCMS is closely monitoring the situation to provide the best possible information and counsel to staff and missionaries who may be in areas of increased risk.
Gifts made throughout the 2019–22 National Offering cycle will bolster efforts to proclaim Christ in word and deed in challenging urban areas, to new immigrants, among college-age students, alongside partner-church missionaries, and in church-planting efforts both at home and abroad.
The new missionaries, who will all serve in either Eurasia or Latin America and the Caribbean, attended a weeklong orientation at the LCMS International Center in St. Louis.
