The LCMS, in partnership with Lutheran World Relief and with the support of the United Nations Foundation, began engaging districts, congregations and schools in the Lutheran Malaria Initiative (LMI) in fall 2011. Together as a Synod since then, we raised more than $7 million in the global fight against malaria through LMI.
A $25,000 grant from the Synod’s Office of National Mission will be used by leaders of five LCMS congregations to bring hope and healing to the community.
The letter was received by LCMS leaders on Nov. 22 from the Rev. Cornelio Midence, president of the Lutheran Church in Guatemala, an LCMS partner church body.
The $93,600 grant is to help Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, “prepare pastors and other church leaders for well-informed thinking and conversations about science.”
The new International Lutheran Center includes a chapel and lecture hall, classroom and fellowship space, a bookstore, guest rooms, a small library and two offices.
