Topics discussed by the LCMS Council of Presidents include ecclesiastical supervision, calling pastors on candidate status, immigration and seminary concerns.
The substitute resolution — which concerns appeals in cases that involve the possible expulsion of an LCMS member — gives district presidents a voice in the process.
The Nov. 19-20 LCMS Board of Directors meeting includes a joint session with the Council of Presidents, action on some half-dozen resolutions and reports from Synod leaders.
They are among a variety of matters covered at the Nov. 16-19 meeting of the LCMS Council of Presidents, which ended in a joint session with the Synod’s Board of Directors.
The LCMS Council of Presidents September meeting includes nine newly elected district presidents, as the council examines various ongoing efforts across the Synod.
“We need to be encouraging in every possible way those men who wish to prepare for the Office of the Ministry,” says LCMS Council of Presidents Placement Committee Chairman Rev. Kurtis D. Schultz.
In the statement, LCMS district presidents pledge their commitment “to the authority of the inspired, inerrant Scriptures as the only source and norm for our doctrine and practice.”
The district presidents also meet with seminary faculty and hear reports from LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison and LCMS Secretary Rev. Dr. Raymond Hartwig.
