The LCMS Council of Presidents conducted its fourth meeting of 2020 (its third via Zoom video conference) on Nov. 16–18, with discussion of the pandemic’s impact on the church dominating the meeting.
The module features the Rev. Dr. Gregory P. Seltz, executive director of the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty in Washington, D.C., and speaker emeritus of “The Lutheran Hour.”
The two LCMS seminaries held virtual Call Day services on April 28 (CSL) and April 29 (CTSFW) due to COVID-19 restrictions, issuing a total of 189 calls and assignments as thousands of people watched online from around the globe.
The Nov. 18–21 meeting was held concurrently with meetings of the LCMS Board of Directors, Concordia University System and a gathering of business and office managers from across the Synod.
Among other business, the Board heard a report from the Synod president, elected a new BOD member, and thanked retiring CFO Jerry Wulf for his service.
Due to two major triennial events, the approved budget is $12 million higher in FY20 than in FY19, but the expenses for those events are essentially recovered through fees.
